Funding Information for Magical Moonshine Theatre

The organizations and programs listed below are ongoing programs with a history of regular, annual support. There are also funding possibilities on a one-time basis that can help for a single engagement. These may be local and specific to your area (local businesses, arts councils, foundations, patrons), or corporations with corporate giving policies that support local programming (two frequent names that appear as supporters for our shows around the country are Target and Mervyns.) Note that some of these groups may have cycles with specific dates for requesting funding.

This page is designed to help presenters of Magical Moonshine Theatre productions help find funding support for programming. It is not a complete listing and as funding availability and organizations change, it should be assumed that the information here is not necessarily current or accurate. That being said, there are some possibilities for funding support that might prove helpful.

It is always our goal not only to present the best quality performances we can, but to make them affordable as well so that as many as possible can see them. In addition to keeping our fees low, we have continually sought to help our presenters with funding support. In the past MMTheatre has helped arrange close to $200,000.00 for presenters of our programs. In the last few years, finding funding for presenters has become more challenging as financial and budget constraints tighten. While some of our usual funding sources have not had resources to help in the last year, we have been busy exploring new avenues of funds in addition to the various funded arts rosters that we are part of (varies from region to region and state to state; call for info for your area.)

Schools: Magical Moonshine Foundation Over the past year we have trying out the idea of raising funds ourselves . To do this we have organized fundraising performances with all proceeds going towards a fund that can help supplement schools who need a little extra to meet expenses for assembly programs. While this is a new endeavor for us, we have managed to raise several thousand dollars that is currently available. In order to stretch this funding as far as possible, we are asking schools who wish funding support to let us know what they have in their budget for the program(s) (at least 50% of the standard fee) and we will determine whether we can make up the difference

Schools and Public, within a 50 mile radius of Vallejo, California: Puppet Fridays : This is a new program to help schools raise funds not only for Magical Moonshine programs but also for other arts programs. With Puppet Fridays (which does not have to be on a Friday, by the way) we present a double assembly program in a school during the school day, and then a public performance/fund raiser that night. The schools costs are minimized and a successful fundraiser can give the school a fund for future performances while helping build community and providing valuable arts experience for youth and families. We can only offer this program to a limited number of schools, but those who are dedicated to arts education, family and community can benefit greatly from this program. Call us for more information or read more about the organization of the program by clicking here.

Public (with or without associated schools) WESTAF provides grants to 501(c3) non profits for Magical Moonshine Theatre performances. The deadline for applications for the upcoming fiscal year is in April. Their grant guidelines can be found on the internet at http://www.westaf.org
